The Little Wooden Boat
Fifi forgets her toy boat outside, and a sudden rainstorm sends her on a dash to save it.
Fifi and Momo were floating a little wooden boat in a tub of water in the backyard. Mom called from the door, "Fifi, lunch time! Bring your boat inside before the rain comes."
Momo's ears twitched. "Should we grab the boat, Fifi?" he asked. Fifi spotted a fuzzy caterpillar on a leaf. "Just a minute, Momo! Look at this caterpillar!"
A few big raindrops splashed on Fifi's nose. The boat! She dashed to the tub, but the water was overflowing and the boat was gone. Momo sniffed around a bush and yipped, "It's stuck under here!"
Fifi crouched down, reaching carefully through the wet leaves. Momo tried to help by pawing at the dirt, but his fluffy tail flicked water into Fifi's face. She sputtered and laughed. "Silly Momo!" Then she gently pulled the boat free.
Back inside, Fifi dried the boat with a soft towel until it shone. Mom smiled and said, "You found it just in time." Fifi set it on the shelf beside the window.
She picked up Momo and they watched the rain tap against the glass. The boat sat safe and sound, ready for tomorrow's adventures.
