The Block Promise
Fifi promised to clean her blocks before the market. But a crash and a hurry make it hard. Can she keep her word?
Mom called from the kitchen, 'Fifi, please put your blocks away before we go to the market.' Fifi looked at her half-built castle and said, 'Okay, Mom!' But she kept stacking.
Momo tilted his head. 'Aren't you going to clean up?' he asked. Fifi added a block. 'I will, after I finish the tower, ' she said. The tower wobbled and grew taller.
Suddenly, the tower crashed to the floor, and blocks scattered everywhere. Fifi sighed as Mom called out, 'Time to go, sweetie!' Fifi jumped up, ready to run to the door.
Momo nosed a block. 'But you promised to clean up, ' he said. Fifi stopped. Momo tried to pick up a block with his mouth, but it slipped out and bopped him on the head. Fifi giggled. 'Okay, let's clean up together, Momo, ' she said. They began stacking blocks into the bin.
The blocks clicked into the bin one by one until the floor was clear. Just then, Mom walked in. 'What a tidy room!' she said with a smile. 'I'm proud you kept your promise, Fifi. Ready for the market?'
Fifi put the last block, a bright red one, onto the pile. Momo's tail swished happily. Fifi took his paw and headed out the door, leaving a clean room behind.
