A Sweet Truth
Fifi accidentally makes a sticky mess at the farmer's market. With Momo's quiet help, she discovers that telling the truth can turn things around.
Fifi held a golden jar of honey at the farmer's market. 'Mom, can we get this? It smells like flowers!' Mom nodded, picking apples.
Fifi passed it to Momo to sniff. It slipped, clunking on the table. The lid popped and honey oozed out. Fifi quickly tightened it, heart racing. Momo tilted his head. 'Why did you put it back like that?' he whispered.
Fifi knew she should tell, but she was scared. 'It's just a sticky spot, ' she mumbled. Then the farmer smiled. 'Let me see that jar.' Fifi's cheeks burned.
Momo nudged her. 'What if he notices the sticky?' Fifi took a breath. 'I dropped it! I'm sorry. I was showing Momo.' The farmer chuckled. 'Thank you for telling me.' Momo tried to help wipe, but got honey on his nose. He sneezed and they laughed.
The farmer gave them a clean jar. 'You're my honest helper, ' he said. Mom smiled proudly. Together they wiped the table clean.
As they left, the farmer gave Momo a honey-dipped cracker. Momo trotted beside Fifi, nose shiny. Fifi carried the jar, feeling light as a bee.
