A Dance for Daisies
Fifi can't wait to pick daisies, but Mom is on the phone. Momo suggests they pass the time with a dance, and waiting becomes the most fun part of the morning.
Fifi tapped her shoes on the kitchen floor. 'Mom, can we pick daisies now?' she called. Her mom held up one finger and smiled, the phone pressed to her ear.
Fifi flopped onto a chair. 'We have to wait, ' she whispered to Momo. The little fox tilted his head. 'How long is a minute?' he asked.
'Let's make up a dance, ' said Fifi. She twirled, and Momo spun too, his bushy tail swishing. Then he stepped on the rug and tumbled in a soft, furry roll.
Fifi giggled and helped him up. They tried a silly hop, a wiggle, and a twirl together. Just then, Mom hung up the phone and clapped. 'I'm ready, dancers!'
They raced to the backyard and filled a little basket with white daisies. Fifi tucked one behind Momo's ear.
Momo did a tiny, proud twirl, the daisy bobbing like a tiny sun. Fifi laughed and said, 'That was the best minute ever.'
