The Brave Beam
When the lights go out, Fifi and Momo must find the flashlight in the dark hallway. A story about a small brave choice.
The living room lamp flickered and went out. "Oh!" cried Fifi. Momo yelped and pressed against her leg.
"Don't worry, " called Mom. "Just a power outage. The flashlight is in the kitchen drawer."
Fifi looked at the dark hallway. Momo peered at it too. "It looks so spooky, " he whispered. "Do you think we can do it?"
Fifi took a deep breath. "We can be brave together, " she said. Holding hands, they stepped into the hallway.
Slowly, they felt their way along the wall. Suddenly, Momo bumped into something soft and squeaked. "A monster!" he cried.
Fifi reached out. "Just Grandma's coat, " she giggled. Momo giggled too, and they kept going, a little braver now.
They found the kitchen drawer. Fifi felt around until her fingers closed on the cold flashlight. Click! A bright beam lit up the room.
They walked back to the living room, following the light. When they entered, Mom cheered. "You found it!"
Then Mom made shadow puppets on the wall with the light. Fifi and Momo danced in the cozy glow, proud of their brave walk.
